Vice-President’s Report: 2009 has been a busy and successful year for Detroit Archers. Early in the year a team of hardworking members consisting of Jim Green, “Pappy”, Ed Nabozny, Dick Sherman, Nick Medina and Brandon Bliss rebuilt the target wall on the indoor range. This is the first time the wall has been completely rebuilt since the Bagdad Bales were installed over six years ago. The job entailed completely disassembling the bales, restuffing and rescreening them. Hopefully it will be another six years before it has to be done again. Speaking of target bales, we also completed the installation of Pacific Bow butts on the remaining seven Field & Hunter stations meaning the entire course is now equipped with Pacific Bow Butts. And we have purchased new American Whitetail target rounds for the FITA course. In late spring we also installed a new gate at the club entrance as the old one had rusted completely thru. Thanks again to Jim Green, Ed Nabozny and Dick Sherman. In late summer, we had a concrete floor poured in the pole barn; something that was long overdue, considering the number of groundhogs that had made it their home. And at about the same time we had 200 tons of crushed limestone spread on the trails for the broadhead, 3D, and Field/Hunter courses. Hopefully it will eliminate some of the mud holes that developed every spring and made walking an ankle twisting adventure. The final major expenditure was the purchase of about $7000 worth of new 3D targets to replenish our stock. With now three indoor 3D leagues each winter and one summer outdoor 3D league in addition to one additional 3D shoot our targets have taken a considerable beating and were beginning to look a little ragged. I’m happy to report that membership has remained stable with some members dropping and some new members joining. Among the newest members are: Brandon & Cassandra Bliss, Alan & Helga Hedler, Don Konieczny, Mac & Barb McHenry, Nick & Elizabeth Medina, and Don & Gloria Timko. Winter leagues are starting up right about now, so think about how you are going to satisfy your D.A. League requirement, and come out and have some fun with one of our indoor leagues. And also you need to know that Detroit Archers has been selected to host the 2010 State Indoor FITA Championship in February. So mark the date, February 13th & 14th on your calendar and let’s make sure that Detroit Archers is well represented at the state shoot since it’s in our home grounds.
