Beginners’ Programs

Junior Archers Program: A 20 week program on Saturday mornings from 10:00am to noon, beginning the first Saturday in November. It offers basic target archery instructions for beginning adults and children in our indoor target range. All equipment is provided. It’s on a “come as you can basis.” Pre-registration is not required. Cost: $5/wk for children; $10/wk for adults. Information: Linda Diaz (248) 851-9529. 

Group Instructions: Private instructions are offered thru an NAA certified Level II instructor for groups of 5 or more adults or children, with all equipment provided. It is an excellent way to plan a scout, church, youth group or business meeting, or children’s birthday party. Cost: $10/person for 1 ½ hrs of instruction. Discover Archery: Twice each year Detroit Archers hosts a family night, where both children and adults may come and shoot in our indoor target range for fun and awards. All equipment and instructions are provided as well as refreshments. This is an excellent way for both children and adults to try archery in a non-threatening fun environment with other novices. Annual Youth Shoot: Each year Detroit Archers hosts the Frank Hall Memorial Youth Shoot the first weekend in May. This is an indoor target shoot for children ages 6 to 16 regardless of experience/ability level; from youngsters who have never shot before to state champion archers. All equipment can be provided for beginners. Each child competing receives a hot dog, can of pop and a trophy. Shooting times are at 10:00am or 1:00pm on Saturday or Sunday. JCC Summer Camp: Three, one-week day camps in archery are offered each summer in conjunction with the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield, for children ages 6 thru 16. The camps run from approximately 9:00am until 2:30pm, Monday thru Friday. The camps focus on basic archery instruction in a target archery setting with emphasis on safety and archery etiquette. All equipment is provided. Pre-registration is required thru the Jewish Community Center. Cost: $235/week. Information: Linda Diaz (248) 851-9529.
